Meeting Sarah Waters
I've always loved Sarah Waters' books - my favourite so far is still Affinity - I found it completely mesmerising. In 2002, Francesca Rhydderch at the New Welsh Review asked me to write a profile of Sarah. We met in the cafe of the National Theatre on the South Bank, just as Fingersmith was being filmed for the BBC.
